The best places to see the 2024 solar eclipse in Canada

The path of totality is the stretch of land from which a total eclipse is visible. In Canada, the path of totality will pass through southern Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes on April 8, 2024.

A partial solar eclipse will be visible in other areas. Several major Canadian cities are in the direct path of the total solar eclipse — Hamilton and Kingston in Ontario, Montreal and Sherbrooke in Quebec, and Fredericton in New Brunswick.

Ontario Destination Ontario has listed the best southern Ontario solar eclipse viewing spots and a soundtrack. Niagara Falls and nearby cities will see the total solar eclipse for approximately four minutes.

Quebec The path of totality will cut across southern Quebec, covering a large part of Greater Montreal as well as the Montérégie, Estrie, Centre-du Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches and Îles-de-la-Madeleine regions.

New Brunswick New Brunswick is possibly the most prepared province for the solar eclipse. The total eclipse will last for over two minutes in Fredericton, the capital of New Brunswick.

Nova Scotia The total solar eclipse will only be visible from the northeastern tip of Cape Breton Island.
